The Server Is Back!
I’ve just learned that Bukkit has FINALLY released a Recommended Build, which means I should be able to get the regular server back up and running on the regular map up soon! Expect the server to be back up by sometime tomorrow.

Anonymous asked: Are you pumped for the new build limit
Absolutely. Burj Khalifa here I come!
As you probably know, Minecraft 1.2 has been released. While this means a great deal of cool stuff in the long run, it also means the server will be down for a while. How long, I do not know. Bukkit will have to be updated to a stable version officially supporting the latest version of 1.2. I do not and cannot know how long this will take.
This also means there won’t be any server tour this weekend. However, I will make a video discussing some of the major things that have happened in the server, and also some plans I have for the future.
Don’t be alarmed if one or more of your warps goes missing. I periodically clean out the list of warps to include ONLY the ones that are absolutely necessary.
Speaking of which, I’ve come up with a new system for finding a way between buildings. If something is nearby enough to another warp that a warp to it would be redundant, but is too far away to see with “short” render distance, I will put periodic markers — Gold blocks, to be exact — between the two places. I’ve put the on top of trees/cacti/etc. whenever possible, but sometimes they are just out over open air. I quite like this system. In fact, I may even go as far as building my own stuff between two nearby buildings to further enforce the state of mind that they are close and connected, and don’t need two separate warps.
This system works on the psychological premises that:
1. Curiosity is natural. People will go to investigate buildings and other things that seem unnatural and/or out of place. If, once they get there, they see another thing that’s out of place, they will go there. This enables a sort of automatic trail that people will follow, even if they don’t know it’s a trail that’s leading them somewhere. However, this effect would NOT work if, say, there were gold blocks placed randomly about an entire forest, because at that point, there would not be any apparent linear direction, and what would otherwise have been very out-of-place becomes entirely ordinary. Rather, they would likely assume it’s just the product of someone’s boredom, and take no interest.
2. Landmarks help people find their way. If there is just a bunch empty land between point A and point B, a person will, more likely than not, get lost along the way. If there are even just one or two landmarks along the way, they will almost never get lost. If you graphed the likelihood of someone getting lost by the distance between two points, it would look less like a direct correlation and more like an exponential growth curve.
Foreword from Stuntddude: This is the kind of thing I’d really love to have on the Stuntcraft blog. I would make more posts like this myself, but I’m lazy :P
The Emergency Shelter/Lava Tower is built to not only be a rather interesting-looking place to hang out, but also to sustain a population of a up to eight residents for semi-long periods of time.
The entrance to this area is rather unassuming, starting off as a simple little brick building.

But you open the doors, and you see this.

You follow that staircase fairly far down, and eventually you come out in the lower room of the tower.

The structure is, apart from the entrance, entirely underground and not visible from the surface. The bottom floor, as the sign says, is the garden. You can grow melons, pumpkins, reeds, wheat, cacti, and trees there.

The next floor up is the living area. Comprised of four apartments. They’re rather cramped and not particularly interesting, but they’re mostly made to be a sleeping area and an area to keep your personal possessions. Each apartment can hold up to two people. The outside of the apartments is just brick, and as I said, this floor was made for functionality and not attractiveness.

The inside of each apartment looks pretty much like this, except the carpet color and paintings vary, and on the two end apartments the right wall (while facing the door) is also lava with glass.

The third floor is a library, which also holds enchanting tables and a sitting area.

And the fourth floor holds the social commons (I may add benches and such here as well as the fountain), and the kitchens. The commons:

The kitchens:

Each chest in the kitchens holds huge amounts of something, ranging from cakes and cookies to meat, both cooked and uncooked, to tools and armor, to weapons, to coal. All in all, not the best or even the most original, but something I enjoyed making.
First thing first, many of you have probably noticed that the Stuntcraft server’s uptime has SUCKED recently. Fortunately, I’ve found a fix. The problem? Every time the computer “went to sleep” (after 30 minutes of not being used), the server would go down because the computer’s CPU would shut down to save power. The fix? I had to set my computer’s sleep time to “never.” So, the server should usually be available now.
Second thing second, I’d like to announce my current plan for video releases. First of all, the Server Tour Week 3 is going to be released tomorrow night (Saturday), so you’ll be able to watch that on Sunday. On top of that, I recorded a bunch of co-op footage with my sister a few days ago, of which I have edited 3 episodes, and will be released one per day starting on Sunday night, the day after I release the server tour video.
Mojang has fixed the login problems, so the server should now be accessible once again.
For once, it’s not my fault. Minecraft.net is down, so you won’t be able to get on the server, or any server, right now.
I finally uploaded the server tour video from last Friday! Expect another one within the next few days.
